Due to increases in housing requirements and a need for new stock housing, developments are springing up in a variety of areas, providing great challenges to the planners as to their viability in terms of noise and vibration exposure.

Guidance is available on all aspects of noise in the environment for housing developments (PPG24, BS8233), industrial noise and nuisance (BS4142 and Noise At Work Regulations), Education facilities (BB93), in addition to that provided by the WHO on Community Noise.
